The Opportunity:
Are you an inspirational and experienced Social Work Manager with a deep understanding and passion for working with children with disabilities? Birmingham City Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Team Manager to lead our Children with Disabilities Team. This is a crucial leadership role where you will drive high-quality, person-centred practice, ensuring children with disabilities and their families receive exceptional support and achieve positive outcomes.
What We Are Looking For:
A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
Significant post-qualifying experience in children's social work (typically 5+ years), with substantial experience in a senior practitioner or management role within a Children with Disabilities, or a relevant specialist service.
Demonstrable experience of managing and leading a social work team in a statutory setting.
Expert knowledge of legislation, policy, and best practice relating to children with disabilities, including safeguarding, assessment frameworks, and care planning for complex needs.
Exceptional leadership, management, and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a team.
Strong analytical skills, capable of critical thinking, complex decision-making, and effective risk management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including children, families (often under significant stress), and multi-agency partners.
A commitment to co-production and promoting the independence and inclusion of children with disabilities.
Ability to manage high workloads, prioritise effectively, and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes across the city.
