Trainee SEN Teacher - Fully Funded QTS Pathway
Location: Near Cranleigh, Surrey (Dunsfold Airfield) - Driving is essential
Working Pattern: Term-time only (includes 56 days of holiday)
Are you seeking to build a profoundly rewarding, fully funded career in Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
We are offering an incredible opportunity to turn your empathy and resilience into a lifelong profession. You will begin your journey providing dedicated 1:1 support to autistic pupils, before being fully funded and guided through a structured professional pathway:
- Teaching Assistant
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
- ABA Level 1 Teacher
- Lead Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Alongside exceptional career progression, you will enjoy a supportive environment that prioritises your well-being, complete with 56 days of holiday and a dedicated staff break room (equipped with a mini-fridge and a massage chair!).
About the Setting
You will be joining a pioneering specialist day school and adult education centre situated on a unique and spacious site at Dunsfold Airfield, near Cranleigh. Our heavily resourced, predominantly indoor environment is designed to accelerate learning. We feature highly equipped classrooms, adjoining sensory rooms, trampolines, and a yoga room.
To provide the most tailored educational experience possible, our class sizes are exceptionally small (maximum 6 to 8 students), and we group our learners by ability rather than age.
Our Methodology
We proudly use Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and are a certified CABAS® provider.
This is a highly data-driven, scientific approach to teaching. We rely heavily on the continuous "graphing" and tracking of learner progress. We break new skills down into manageable tasks, heavily utilise positive reinforcement, and celebrate every single micro-victory. If you have an analytical, psychology-minded brain and love seeing measurable, evidence-based progress, you will thrive here.
The Realities of the Role
We believe in honesty so that you know exactly what to expect from day one. Working 1:1 or in small groups, you will face and manage challenging behaviours. Crucially, our approach is strictly positive; we never use physical restraints on any of our students, relying instead on expert de-escalation.
Additionally, this role requires providing intimate personal care - toileting and feeding - on a daily basis. The role is physically demanding, involving twisting, stooping, working at lower heights, and actively participating in breaktime duties, active play, and off-site community visits.
What We Are Looking For
You do not need a university degree or previous teaching qualifications to apply. We are looking for the right human beings.
- Qualifications: A minimum of a Grade C/4 (or equivalent) at GCSE in English Language and Maths.
- Characteristics: Boundless resilience, deep empathy, a passionate interest in SEN/Psychology, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Transport: Due to the rural, unique location at Dunsfold Airfield, you must be able to commute reliably.
Safeguarding & Compliance
We are deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk.
- All applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Our vetting process is extraordinarily strict: all gaps in your education or employment history must be fully accounted for, and you must provide reasons for leaving all previous employment.
- Applicants must hold the right to work in the UK with no visas expiring within the next 12 months.
