Are you an experienced Children's Social Worker with a passion for supporting Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) through trauma-informed care and statutory pathways?
Doncaster Council is recruiting a dedicated UASC Social Worker to join their Children's Services team. Offering £35.00 per hour, this role is key to delivering statutory assessments, age assessments, and pathway planning for vulnerable young people, helping them address complex immigration processes, trauma, and transitions into adulthood.
About the Role & Service Area:
You will provide a full range of statutory social work services to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and care leavers. Working closely with multi-agency partners, the Home Office, and immigration specialists, you will ensure these young people receive tailored support that addresses their unique emotional, practical, and legal needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Statutory Assessments & Planning: Complete robust Child and Family Assessments, Human Rights Assessments, and statutory Care Plans.
- Age Assessments & Immigration: Undertake lawful, Merton-compliant Age Assessments and support young people through Home Office asylum and immigration procedures.
- Pathway Planning: Develop co-produced Pathway Plans to support young people as they navigate identity, independence, and the transition into adulthood.
- Trauma-Informed Practice: Deliver trauma-informed care and interventions addressing the impact of displacement, trauma, and separation.
- Multi-Agency Advocacy: Collaborate with health, education, legal representatives, and voluntary partners to ensure safe, stable placements and positive outcomes.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications & SWE: Recognised Social Work qualification and active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- UASC & Assessment Skills: Proven post-qualifying experience working with UASC, care leavers, or looked after children (CLA/LAC), including knowledge of age assessment frameworks.
- Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of Children Act 1989/2004 frameworks, immigration regulations, and trauma-informed social work.
- Mobility: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits across Doncaster.
