We are partnering with a prominent Further Education college group in South East London to recruit a dedicated Vocational Trainer & Lecturer in Carpentry & Joinery. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Teach and assess Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery courses across practical workshop spaces and theoretical classrooms.
- Design, update, and manage course materials, lesson plans, and schemes of work prior to course start dates.
- Conduct regular academic tutorials to deliver constructive performance feedback, monitor attendance, and track student achievement.
- Enforce rigorous Health and Safety protocols across all workshop spaces to maintain a safe working environment.
- Embedded functional literacy and numeracy support within practical context to boost overall student confidence.
- Participate in departmental recruitment activities, open days, and employer networking to help facilitate high-quality student work placements.
- Maintain meticulous administrative records and student progression logs in compliance with internal quality assurance standards.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Full Level 3 NVQ qualification in Carpentry/Joinery and Level 2 literacy and numeracy credentials (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent). A recognized FE teaching qualification or Assessor/IQA awards (A1/TAQA) are desirable, but candidates willing to work towards a teaching qualification will be fully supported.
- Characteristics: A minimum of 5 years of verifiable trade industry experience in Carpentry & Joinery, excellent verbal communication skills to present effectively to class groups, and efficient administrative capabilities.
- Transport & Commute: Ability to commute reliably to college campus sites across South East London.
