Are you an experienced Adult Social Work practitioner with strong expertise in statutory safeguarding, risk assessment, and Section 42 enquiries?
Cumberland Council is recruiting a skilled Qualified Social Worker to join their Adult Safeguarding Team, covering the North and West Cumbria locality. Offering a competitive rate of £37.00 per hour, this role features an excellent hybrid balance along with flexible office base options in either Carlisle or Workington.
Key Responsibilities:
- Section 42 Enquiries: Lead and coordinate statutory Section 42 safeguarding enquiries, assessing risk levels and implementing robust protection plans.
- Risk & Protection Management: Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving adults with care and support needs across North and West Cumbria.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Partner effectively with health teams, police, housing providers, and care services to safeguard vulnerable adults.
- Mental Capacity Assessments: Conduct Mental Capacity Assessments (MCA) and contribute to Best Interests decision-making processes within safeguarding pathways.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications & SWE: Recognised Social Work degree with active Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Safeguarding Expertise: Proven post-qualifying experience within statutory Adult Social Care, specifically handling Section 42 enquiries and complex adult safeguarding cases.
- Legislative Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act (MCA/DoLS), and adult protection frameworks.
- Mobility & Base: Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle to cover visits across North and West Cumbria (2-3 days in area, based out of Carlisle or Workington).
