Location: Leicester City Council (Hybrid Working) Role: Advanced Practitioner - Children in Need (CIN) Hourly Rate: £40.00 per hour (Umbrella) Contract Type: Locum / Agency (Full-Time)
Are you an exceptional social work practitioner passionate about driving outstanding practice?
Leicester City Council is seeking a highly skilled and resilient Advanced Practitioner to join our dedicated Children in Need (CIN) Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker ready to step up, or an existing Advanced Practitioner looking for a highly rewarding, well-compensated role in a forward-thinking local authority.
In this role, you will be the clinical heartbeat of the team. You will balance holding a small, capped caseload of highly complex cases with providing critical mentoring and practice guidance to newly qualified and junior social workers.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Complex Casework: Manage a carefully capped caseload of the most complex, high-profile Child Protection and Children in Need cases, demonstrating exemplary statutory practice.
- Mentoring & Coaching: Act as a practice champion. Co-work cases with less experienced team members, providing reflective coaching to elevate the standard of practice across the board.
- Leadership & Support: Deputise for the Team Manager when required and assist in driving team performance, quality assurance, and adherence to statutory timelines.
- Multi-Agency Leadership: Chair complex strategy discussions, core groups, and multi-agency network meetings to ensure robust safeguarding plans are executed effectively.
- Court Proceedings: Lead on complex court work and represent the local authority in family court, producing high-level, analytical court reports.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications: A recognized Social Work degree (BA/MA/BSc/DipSW/CQSW).
- Registration: Active and unrestricted registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience (ideally 4+ years) within statutory frontline Children's Services, specifically CP/CIN and court work.
- Skills: A proven track record of supporting or mentoring junior staff and managing complex risk.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS (on the update service preferred) and Right to Work in the UK.
- Transport: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Why Choose Leicester City?
- Top-Tier Pay: Highly competitive rate of £40.00 per hour.
- Hybrid Working: A flexible approach balancing home-working with in-office collaboration and statutory visits.
- Supportive Culture: Visible, accessible leadership that champions reflective supervision and manageable workloads.
- Impact: A genuine opportunity to shape practice standards and make a systemic difference to the lives of vulnerable children in Leicester.
