Lead the Way for Our Care Leavers
Newcastle City Council is looking for an ambitious and experienced Assistant Team Manager to join our dedicated Care Leavers team. This is a pivotal role where you will support the Team Manager in shaping a service that empowers young people as they transition from care to independence.
We are looking for a leader who is passionate about social justice, high standards of practice, and-most importantly-achieving the best possible outcomes for our care experienced young adults.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Support: Provide high-quality clinical supervision to a team of Personal Advisors and Social Workers, ensuring reflective practice.
Service Quality: Monitor and maintain high standards of case management, ensuring pathways plans are robust, child-centered, and regularly reviewed.
Leadership: Deputize for the Team Manager and help drive service improvements in line with legislative requirements and Ofsted standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with partner agencies (housing, education, and health) to ensure a seamless support network for care leavers.
What You'll Bring
Expertise: Significant experience in working with looked-after children or care leavers.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor staff, manage performance, and handle complex escalated cases.
Qualifications: A degree in Social Work and a current registration with Social Work England.
Resilience: A calm, authoritative approach to decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
