Salford City Council is seeking a passionate, resilient Children's Social Worker to join their established Child Protection (CP) and Children in Need (CIN) service. This team is dedicated to undertaking purposeful, relationship-based intervention with children and families, working collaboratively to manage risk, build on family strengths, and deliver positive, long-term outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
Operating as a key member of a dedicated locality team, your day-to-day duties will involve:
Case Management: Managing a varied statutory caseload of children and young people subject to Child Protection plans and Children in Need frameworks.
Risk Assessment & Planning: Designing, implementing, and regularly reviewing robust child-centered care plans to ensure safety and stability.
Multi-Agency Leadership: Working in locked step with key partner agencies-including health, education, and police-whilst chairing core groups and multi-agency reviews.
Voice of the Child: Conducting high-quality, creative direct work with children to ensure their wishes, feelings, and lived experiences directly inform all decision-making.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
Professional Registration: Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a valid, active Social Work England registration.
Frontline Expertise: Substantial, recent post-qualifying experience within a statutory Child Protection or Children in Need team.
Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical writing skills, a confident understanding of thresholds, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
