Randstad Education is currently recruiting a permanent Level 5 Dyslexia Teacher to join a highly supportive school in Cambridge. Working on a full-time, permanent basis, this position is ideal for an experienced specialist teacher or SEN practitioner passionate about unlocking reading, writing, and cognitive confidence for students with dyslexia and literacy processing differences.
As a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher, you will work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to deliver evidence-based, multisensory literacy interventions, conduct targeted screening assessments, and help design dyslexia-inclusive strategies across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Targeted Dyslexia Interventions: Design and teach structured, multisensory, cumulative literacy programs for individual pupils and small groups across the school.
- Conduct Specialist Screening & Assessments: Utilize your Level 5 SpLD expertise to carry out diagnostic screening assessments, identify specific learning profiles, and track student literacy progress over time.
- Curriculum & Teacher Support: Advise classroom teachers on adapting learning materials, integrating assistive technology, and maintaining dyslexia-friendly learning environments.
- Collaborate with the SENCO & Families: Work in close partnership with the SENCO, external specialist services, and parents to create actionable Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide clear progress updates.
- Build Student Confidence: Help students develop effective metacognitive strategies, emotional resilience, and self-advocacy skills alongside core literacy techniques.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for an articulate, highly qualified Dyslexia Specialist with deep knowledge of neurodiversity and structured literacy frameworks.
- Mandatory Level 5 Qualification in Dyslexia / SpLD (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties / Dyslexia).
- Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS.
- Mandatory Right to Work in the UK (visa sponsorship is unavailable for this role).
- Proven track record of delivering 1-to-1 and small-group dyslexia/literacy interventions in a UK school setting.
- Excellent communication, diagnostic reporting, and interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships with staff and families.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process one through Randstad).
