Ipswich
Are you a master of the written word with the power to inspire a love for literature and language?
Can you guide students through the complexities of Shakespeare, the nuances of modern poetry, and the mechanics of persuasive writing?
Are you seeking a full-time role in Ipswich that offers competitive pay and the chance to shape the voices of the next generation?
We are seeking a dedicated Qualified English Teacher (QTS) to join our partner secondary schools in Ipswich. This role is perfect for a practitioner who believes that literacy is the foundation of all success. Whether you are an expert in classical texts or contemporary media, you will be responsible for delivering a high-impact curriculum that challenges students at KS3 and KS4, fostering the critical thinking and communication skills they need for the future.
Your Responsibilities
- Literary Excellence: Plan and deliver engaging, research-informed English Literature and Language lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with potential for KS5).
- Communication Mastery: Develop students' ability to write with precision, speak with confidence, and analyse texts with a critical eye.
- Exam Strategy: Lead Year 11 cohorts through their GCSE specifications (AQA, Edexcel, or Eduqas), utilizing data-driven interventions to maximise student results.
- Inclusive Literacy: Differentiate complex texts and writing tasks for a wide range of abilities, ensuring high-attainers are stretched and support is scaffolded for EAL or lower-literacy learners.
- Curriculum Advocacy: Promote a "reading for pleasure" culture across the school, introducing students to diverse voices and global perspectives.
- Departmental Collaboration: Contribute to the development of shared resources and participate in moderation to ensure consistent standards in marking and assessment.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in English Literature, Language, or a related discipline.
- Pedagogical Skill: A deep understanding of how to teach complex grammar, structure, and analysis in a way that resonates with 21st-century teenagers.
- Classroom Authority: Exceptional management skills that ensure a focused, respectful, and intellectually stimulating environment.
- Passion for the Subject: A genuine drive to show students the power of storytelling and the importance of having a voice in modern society.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
