We are seeking a dedicated Qualified Science Teacher (QTS) to join our partner secondary schools in Ipswich. This role is designed for a practitioner who views the laboratory as a place of endless possibility. Whether your expertise lies in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, you will be responsible for delivering a high-impact curriculum that challenges students at KS3 and KS4, fostering the intellectual curiosity required for future STEM success.
Your Responsibilities
- Academic Excellence: Plan and deliver engaging, research-informed Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with potential for KS5 depending on experience).
- Laboratory Leadership: Design and facilitate safe, high-impact practical experiments that bring theoretical concepts to life and enhance student understanding.
- Exam Strategy: Lead Year 11 cohorts through their GCSE specifications, utilizing data-driven interventions and precise feedback to maximize student attainment.
- Inclusive Science: Differentiate complex scientific topics for a wide range of abilities, ensuring high-attainers are stretched and support is scaffolded for all learners.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain rigorous health and safety standards in the lab, working closely with the technician team to ensure all experiments align with CLEAPSS guidelines.
- Departmental Collaboration: Contribute to the development of shared resources and participate in moderation to ensure consistent standards across the faculty.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A degree in a Scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related STEM subject).
- Technical Proficiency: A deep understanding of the scientific method and the confidence to model accurate practical techniques in a classroom setting.
- Classroom Authority: Exceptional management skills that ensure a safe, focused, and intellectually stimulating environment during both theory and practical sessions.
- Passion for STEM: A genuine drive to highlight the real-world applications of science and inspire students toward future careers in the field.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
