Tameside Council is launching its pioneering Family Help Service and is seeking dynamic, resilient Family Help Lead Practitioners to join their integrated Duty, Assessment, and Family Help teams.

Key Responsibilities
Operating within a fast-paced, community-focused environment, your daily duties will include:
Frontline Assessment & Triage: Undertaking initial statutory enquiries, child-in-need assessments, and complex risk evaluations within the community.
Child Protection (Section 47): Leading on Section 47 enquiries where children are deemed to be at risk of significant harm, initiating emergency child protection procedures, and working alongside legal and management teams when statutory orders are required.
High-Intensity Family Support: Delivering robust, planned family support and crisis-response interventions directly to families to prevent breakdown and safely keep children within their family units.
Caseload Management: Managing a complex Child in Need (CIN) caseload, chairing review meetings, and providing both support and healthy challenge to help families embed long-term, sustained change.
Multi-Agency Partnerships: Building strong working networks with voluntary and statutory partners while maintaining impeccable, audit-ready electronic case records.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
Professional Registration: Must be a Qualified Social Worker with an active, valid Social Work England registration.
Frontline Competency: Strong post-qualifying experience within statutory Duty & Assessment, Child Protection, or frontline Safeguarding environments.
Community Autonomy: Confidence working independently within the community, completing lone-working home visits, and managing competing crisis priorities.
Analytical Writing: Proven ability to produce high-quality statutory assessments and internal/external legal reports under tight timescales.
