Lead the Conversation. Shape the Future.
Are you a visionary educator with a passion for Religious Education, Psychology, or Sociology? Are you ready to step into a leadership role where subjects are "front and centre" of the pedagogical approach?
We are seeking an inspirational and experienced teacher to lead our RE and Social Science Department. This is a pivotal middle-management position that involves driving academic excellence across GCSE and our expanding Sixth Form provision, including the line management of Law.
The Role
As the Head of Department, you won't just be managing a curriculum; you will be curating a knowledge-rich experience that enables students to see the world differently. Your mission will be to:
Lead & Innovate: Formulate faculty improvement plans and develop high-quality syllabuses and schemes of work.
Drive Achievement: Be accountable for student attainment, using data-driven insights to raise standards and monitor progress.
Mentor & Manage: Build and motivate a team of dedicated staff, acting as a role model for outstanding teaching and learning.
Bridge the Gap: Use your expertise to tackle educational disadvantage, ensuring every student-regardless of background-achieves their individual potential.
What We Are Looking For
We want a leader who combines academic rigor with empathetic leadership. You should possess:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
A proven track record of successful GCSE teaching with "good or better" outcomes.
Experience in managing change and raising achievement levels in your current post.
Deep knowledge of current curriculum developments and educational research.
The ability to build professional, high-standard relationships with both students and staff.
Our Culture
Join a school where values aren't slogans-they are lived. We operate with a "firm but fair" approach to behaviour, rooted in consistent routines that allow teachers to teach and students to learn. Our leadership team values honest conversations, admits mistakes, and welcomes diverse opinions. We are a staff united by a fierce determination to show our students the world beyond the local horizon.
