To provide effective, high-quality management to a residential supported accommodation setting for young people. The Home Manager ensures that all Ofsted, statutory, and regulatory standards are consistently met or exceeded, delivering tailored, high-level support aligned with each young person's individual needs. The post holder is responsible for maintaining an inclusive, anti-oppressive environment that actively promotes diversity, safeguards residents, and adheres strictly to the organisational policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, striving to meet or exceed statutory quality standards across all service areas.
- Maintain, oversee, and continuously evaluate administrative systems, quality assurance processes, and data collation for reporting.
- Ensure strict adherence to the organisational policies, procedures, Data Protection Act compliance, and professional code of conduct.
- Oversee the day-to-day running and physical maintenance of the home to ensure a safe, clean, and healthy living environment.
- Establish an inclusive, supportive, and anti-oppressive space that values diversity and respects the rights of young people.
- Oversee referrals, support planning, risk assessments, and face-to-face casework, ensuring plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Oversee the delivery of the Independent Living Programme, equipping young people with life skills, self-management, and risk awareness.
- Take lead responsibility for ensuring all safeguarding and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) concerns are addressed swiftly according to best practices.
- Provide professional supervision, direction, and support to the team, fostering positive team dynamics and staff development. Develop, implement, and maintain effective 24/7 shift rotas to ensure continuous cover aligned with operational and young people's needs.
- Participate in the out-of-hours management on-call rota to provide continuous 24/7 support to staff and residents.
- Actively participate in management meetings, identifying personal and team training needs to maintain organisational excellence.
- Build strong working relationships with commissioning bodies, social services, family members, and education/training providers.
- Lead specific development initiatives within the organisation and stay up to date with legislative changes impacting young people.
- Exercise sound financial probity and oversight of home expenses and budgets.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children and Young People (or equivalent / willing to work towards).
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Care / Young People (or equivalent / willing to work towards).
Experience
- Senior-level experience working with young people (aged 16+) in a supported accommodation or residential setting.
- Demonstrable experience working within Ofsted regulatory frameworks.
- Supervising and managing care staff, including delivering staff inductions.
- Designing and managing risk assessment frameworks.
- Direct casework, conflict resolution, and multi-agency working with young people.
- Proven track record of commitment to anti-oppressive and anti-discriminatory practice.
Knowledge
- Deep understanding of young people's rights, safeguarding, and Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) best practices.
- Strong knowledge of current UK legislation affecting children and care-leavers.
- Comprehensive understanding of Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards, and safe working practices.
- Knowledge of modern leadership and personnel management protocols.
