Are you a sharp, decisive children's practitioner who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you excel at hitting the ground running, making robust risk assessments, and ensuring families receive the right support at the very first point of contact?
Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) Council is urgently seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their dynamic Intake & Assessment Team. Offering a highly competitive regional rate of £37.56 per hour, this role is perfect for a frontline professional who loves the buzz of initial investigations and crisis intervention.
The Daily Impact of Your Role
As an Intake & Assessment Social Worker, you are the gateway to children's services. You will handle the initial receipt of referrals, turning chaos into clear, actionable care plans:
Initial Investigations: Conduct comprehensive statutory assessments and Section 47 child protection inquiries following multi-agency referrals.
Crisis Triaging: Assess immediate risk and safety, making timely, evidence-based decisions to safeguard children and young people.
Multi-Agency Liaison: Collaborate closely with the police, health professionals, schools, and early help networks to build a holistic view of the child's circumstances.
Short-Term Interventions: Hold cases for a short, focused period-safely transferring families requiring long-term intervention to localized care teams or closing cases with robust community support networks in place.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
To meet Welsh statutory guidelines and keep up with the pace of the front door, you must possess:
Professional Registration: You MUST be actively registered with Social Care Wales to practice.
Frontline Track Record: Proven post-qualifying experience within a statutory local authority Children's Front Door, Duty, MASH, or Assessment team.
Analytical Writing: The ability to write high-quality, legally defensible assessments under tight statutory deadlines.
Mobility: A full UK driving license with access to a vehicle for urgent community-based assessments.
Why Choose RCT Council?
Premium Earning Power: A top-tier Welsh hourly rate of £37.56 per hour.
Clear Boundaries: Because this is a pure intake and assessment service, you don't hold long-term court cases or care proceedings-giving you a clean hand-off once the initial assessment is complete.
Flexible Hybrid Working: Benefit from modern hybrid working arrangements, letting you complete your write-ups and reports from home between community visits.
