Role: Trainee Tutor
Location: Sharpthorne, East Sussex
Permanent
Timings: Monday-Friday | 8:45am-5:00pm (4:30pm finish Fridays)
Salary: £20,000-£22,000 per annum
The Role
As a Trainee Tutor, you will receive comprehensive training to deliver structured 1:1 teaching sessions and support pupils throughout their school day. Working alongside experienced Class Leaders, Teachers, and therapists, you will help implement individual learning programmes, behaviour support strategies, and life-skills development while gaining valuable experience within specialist autism education
Responsibilities
... - Deliver individualised teaching sessions to assigned pupils
- Support children with autism and communication needs using behaviour-based teaching approaches
- Collect, monitor, and record pupil progress data
- Assist with sensory learning, life skills, and extracurricular activities
- Support pupils during lunch, playtimes, and outdoor learning activities
- Work towards keyworker responsibilities for individual pupils
- Contribute to the preparation and organisation of teaching resources
- Support positive behaviour plans and teaching strategies
- Assist with personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene support
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider school staff
- Contribute to home-school communication and pupil progress reporting

Previous experience in education, care, support work, childcare, psychology, or youth work is welcomed but not essential. Full specialist training and ongoing support will be provided.
