Are you an experienced, compassionate, and highly reliable Learning Support Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference? We are seeking a skilled practitioner to join the team at Harris Academy Chobham to work closely with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across our primary school provision.
This role is ideal for someone who has significant experience supporting children with autism and/or complex needs. You will provide a stable, reassuring, and nurturing presence, helping vulnerable learners overcome barriers to learning and thrive in their daily lives and long-term development.
Your Role:
- Holistic SEN Support: Work across various year groups within both mainstream classrooms and specialist provision, supporting children with a wide range of differing and complex needs.
- EHCP Implementation: Utilise your experience with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to support children in working towards their individual targets through tailored strategies and interventions.
- Targeted Care: Proactively identify barriers to learning, using a calm, positive, and adaptable approach to meet the changing communication, sensory, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of the children.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a wider team, communicating professionally with class teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals to ensure children receive the highest quality support.
Requirements:
- SEN Experience: Substantial experience supporting children with SEN, specifically understanding autism (Autism Spectrum Condition) and complex learning needs within a primary school setting.
- Key Traits: Caring, patient, resilient, consistently positive, solution-focused, and deeply aware of the importance of consistency and routine for vulnerable learners.
- Professionalism: Demonstrated excellence in reliability, professional communication, and timekeeping.
- Availability: Available Term-Time only, 5 days per week for the full academic year contract (3rd September 2026 - 16th July 2027).
- Compliance: An enhanced child DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) and a valid Right to Work in the UK.
