We are partnering with a prominent Further Education provider in South East London to recruit an enthusiastic Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer. Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Teach and assess Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery courses, delivering high-quality practical and theoretical sessions.
- Design, review, and maintain comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources prior to course delivery.
- Provide individual student tutorials, offering formative feedback, tracking attendance, and monitoring academic progress.
- Maintain strict Health and Safety standards within workshop environments in accordance with college procedures.
- Promote the department by participating in marketing events, open days, and student recruitment initiatives.
- Assist in establishing and monitoring work experience placements through liaisons with regional employers.
- Complete administrative tasks and student record-keeping efficiently to support quality assurance and verification processes.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: Full Level 3 qualification in Carpentry/Joinery (including NVQ) and Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent). A recognised FE teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DET) or Assessor/IQA awards (A1/TAQA) are desirable, but candidates willing to work towards a teaching qualification will also be considered.
- Characteristics: A minimum of 5 years of verifiable industry experience in Carpentry and Joinery, strong communication skills to engage diverse learner groups, and robust organizational abilities.
- Transport & Commute: Ability to travel reliably to college campuses across South East London (including the Bromley, Bexley, and Greenwich areas).
