We are currently seeking an empathetic, proactive, and skilled Early Years Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school community near Shepreth on a full-time, permanent basis.
In this vital role, you will be providing dedicated 1:1 support to a young child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who has Cerebral Palsy. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external occupational and physical therapists to ensure the pupil thrives both academically and physically within an inclusive classroom environment.
Role Details:
- Position: Level 3 Early Years Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN Support)
- Start Date: October Half Term
- Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
- Location: Near Shepreth, Cambridgeshire
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with Cerebral Palsy during classroom tasks, continuous provision, and structured outdoor play.
- Implement physical therapy, mobility, and occupational therapy exercises into the pupil's daily routine as guided by specialist external teams.
- Assist with personal care duties, including hygiene, changing, and mobility transfers, upholding the child's dignity, safety, and comfort at all times.
- Utilise play-based, sensory learning activities aligned with the EYFS framework to boost engagement, motor skills, and confidence.
- Support the child's social integration, fostering positive relationships with peers during group work and playtime.
- Monitor progress against individual EHCP goals and provide regular feedback to the SENCO, class teacher, and parents.
What We Look For:
- Qualification: Level 3 Childcare / Early Years qualification (e.g., Cache Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Early Years, or equivalent).
- Essential SEN Experience: Proven, hands-on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within an Early Years or Primary environment.
- Direct experience or strong knowledge supporting physical disabilities, mobility needs, or Cerebral Palsy (and associated therapies) is highly desirable.
- Confidence and willingness to handle personal care and physical support with dignity, respect, and proper moving-and-handling techniques.
- A patient, warm, and encouraging personality with an intuitive understanding of early child development.
- Availability to start at October Half Term.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
