Job Title: Mobile Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: West London
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00 (40 hours per week - flexible)
Salary Range: Up to £47,000 (dependent on trade experience, bias, and qualifications) + Company Van & Fuel Card + Overtime Opportunities
The Opportunity
Are you a skilled mechanical or plumbing maintenance engineer looking for an autonomous mobile role with a fully equipped company vehicle and a dependable Monday-to-Friday schedule?
Key Responsibilities
1. Mobile Mechanical & HVAC Maintenance
- Servicing & Commissioning: Travel across assigned portfolio sites to carry out scheduled servicing, statutory inspections, and commissioning routines on commercial mechanical and HVAC equipment in line with SFG20 standards.
- Diagnostics & Breakdowns: Respond methodically to reactive maintenance calls, executing systematic fault-finding and repairs on heating, cooling, pumping, and air handling equipment to ensure continuous building operation.
- First-Line Remedials: Deliver planned and reactive mechanical repairs across commercial pipework, circulating pumps, valves, pressurisation units, and sanitary installations.
2. Water Hygiene & Compliance (ACoP L8)
- Statutory Regimes: Deliver scheduled monthly water hygiene monitoring across client properties, including sentinel temperature checks, calorifier inspections, TMV failsafe testing, and showerhead descaling/disinfection.
- Logbook Management: Maintain accurate digital and physical compliance logbooks in accordance with ACoP L8 and HSG274 standards, ensuring every location remains audit-ready.
3. Quoting, Scoping & Technical Reporting
- Remedial Quoting: Proactively inspect plant condition during site visits, compile parts and labour estimates, and draft clear quotations for remedial jobs exceeding £500.
- Digital Work Logging: Complete detailed electronic work sheets, plant failure reports, diagnostic notes, and asset updates via the mobile CAFM tablet.
- Route & Workload Planning: Organise your daily route and task schedules effectively, liaising with the central helpdesk to meet client SLAs and contractual response times.
4. Vehicle, Safety & Safe Systems of Work
- Vehicle & Stock Management: Keep the assigned company van clean, organized, and roadworthy, managing essential van stock (fittings, valves, pipework consumables, testing gear) to maintain high first-time fix rates.
- Safety Protocols: Carry out dynamic point-of-work risk assessments, adhere strictly to approved Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), and execute safe mechanical isolations (LOTO) under site Permit to Work frameworks.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Certifications:
- Vocational Trade Foundation: NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing, Heating & Ventilation, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship.
- Driving Licence: Full, clean UK Driving Licence (mandatory for mobile travel across Greater London).
- Water Hygiene: Valid ACoP L8 / Legionella Awareness certification.
- Safety Standards: Proven commitment to workplace health and safety, safe isolation procedures, and RAMS compliance.
Experience & Capabilities:
- Proven background operating as a Mobile Engineer or field service technician across commercial, public sector, or corporate property portfolios.
- Confident standalone diagnostic ability on commercial pumps, HVAC systems, and water distribution services.
- Professional client-facing manner with strong communication skills suitable for interacting with site managers, building occupants, and facilities teams.
