6 Months Contract Inside IR35
£500 a day
A well established consultancy firm is currently looking for an experienced Oracle Apps DBA to manage, maintain, and optimise mission-critical Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS R12) environments and underlying databases.
In this hands-on, high-impact technical role, you will take ownership of cross-layer troubleshooting spanning application, database, operating systems, and infrastructure. You will play a key part in maintaining system performance, security, and high availability, while actively contributing to major cloud migration initiatives (OCI / Azure).
Key responsibilities
- EBS & Database Lifecycle: Maintain, update, copy, and refresh core Oracle systems across test, development, and live 24/7 production environments.
- Core Apps Administration: Manage key system settings, background job processes, reporting tools, and application components to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Database & High Availability: Oversee core database operations, set up automated backups and disaster recovery, and keep multi-server database clusters running reliably.
- Performance & Diagnostics: Monitor system health, read error logs, and fix slowdowns, storage shortages, or system locks before they impact users.
- Cloud & Modernization: Help plan and carry out moving on-premise systems to modern cloud platforms like Oracle Cloud (OCI) or Azure.
- Infrastructure Support: Work directly on Linux and AIX server operating systems, writing simple scripts to automate tasks, manage server storage, and install updates.
Essential Skills
- Experience: 7+ years in enterprise Oracle Apps DBA & DB roles.
- Stack: Oracle EBS R12, RAC, AutoConfig, RMAN, patching & cloning.
- OS: Linux & AIX support + shell scripting (Bash/KShell).
- Troubleshooting: Cross-layer (App/DB/OS) problem-solving under strict SLAs.
Desirable Skills
- Hands-on experience with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) or Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with database migration strategies, Oracle Data Guard, or Oracle GoldenGate.
- Exposure to WebLogic, AD/TXK utilities, or automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
- Oracle certifications (Database, EBS, or Cloud).
This role offers the chance to run critical enterprise systems while gaining direct, hands-on exposure to modern cloud migrations and infrastructure transformations.
