We are seeking a dynamic and professionally driven Qualified PE Teacher (QTS) for a permanent position at our partner Secondary School serving the Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall communities, commencing this September. This school is committed to elite-level sportsmanship and inclusive participation, and they are looking for a specialist who can elevate the physical and academic profile of the department.
Your Responsibilities
- Pedagogical Excellence: Plan and deliver high-energy practical lessons across a wide range of disciplines, including team games, athletics, and individual sports, ensuring high engagement from all ability levels.
- Theory Specialism: Lead the delivery of GCSE PE and/or BTEC Tech Award in Sport, utilising sophisticated tracking and feedback loops to ensure students meet or exceed their target grades.
- Extracurricular Leadership: Direct and coordinate an extensive after-school program, leading school teams in regional fixtures and fostering a competitive yet respectful sporting culture.
- Inclusive Engagement: Differentiate practical sessions to ensure that all students-including those with SEN or those who are traditionally "disengaged"-find a pathway to physical success and confidence.
- Departmental Advancement: Contribute to the strategic development of the PE curriculum and the organisation of major school sporting events, such as Sports Days and inter-house championships.
- Pastoral Stewardship: Act as a Form Tutor, providing consistent mentoring and support to a dedicated group of students within the school's pastoral framework.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related discipline.
- Sporting Versatility: Exceptional proficiency in coaching multiple sports and a deep understanding of current officiating rules and training methodologies.
