About the Role
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pre-Birth Social Worker to join our specialized team. This is a critical role focused on early intervention, working closely with expectant parents where significant safeguarding concerns have been identified.
Your mission will be to assess risk, build trusting relationships with families, and create robust support plans to ensure the best possible outcomes for newborns.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive pre-birth assessments to identify risks and protective factors.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary partners, including midwifery, health visiting, and substance misuse services.
Develop and implement safety plans and support interventions prior to the child's birth.
Initiate and manage Care Proceedings (Public Law Outline) when necessary, ensuring the child's voice and best interests are at the center of all planning.
Present high-quality reports to panels and court proceedings.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications: A recognized degree in Social Work and a current registration with Social Work England.
Experience: Proven track record in children's services, specifically within safeguarding, assessment, or specialized pre-birth teams.
Skills: Strong analytical and assessment skills, excellent communication, and the ability to handle highly sensitive situations with empathy and resilience.
Logistics: A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for community visits.
