As a minimum you will have a City and Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, and have further appropriate vocational training and experience. Job holder's skills and personalityYou must be capable of working from drawings and technical documents. Most of the work is small volume or one-off production and you will be expected to do a neat and accurate job, with right first-time completion to an acceptable timescale.You will be part of a small team of energetic people, so the ability to work and mix with others is important, but you must also be resourceful and self-reliant.The work involves a certain amount of manual handling and manipulation of the assemblies.       Production Technician required on a contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.As a production technician you will work as part of a team that is responsible for the manufacturing and assembling of generators and generator components. There's currently 2 shifts: the day shift and the afternoon shift. You will be working on the day shift as the afternoon shift requires more experience in the process. Day shift: 7am - 3pm There is also an afternoon shift available for highly experienced candidates: 3pm - 11:45pm (3pm - 9pm on Friday)Key responsibilities:Operate machines and production equipment in accordance with quality and productivity requirements safely in a manufacturing environment with limited guidance.Operates manual and automated equipment to manufacture and assemble products in order to create the proper characteristics and dimensions necessary to meet customer expectations.Demonstrate a high level of competency in core work skills.Achieve production goals.Work at the required cycle time or defined engineering standard.Maintain clean and orderly work area, including routine housekeeping tasks and machine cleaning tasks and performs planned operator care and maintenance tasks.Remain flexible and perform other miscellaneous duties, as required, to meet production goals.Work with peers, skilled trades and support staff to maintain and identify equipment needing repair.Communicate effectively with the assigned team and with all support teams.Complete training and personal development in line with business requirements.
