Are you a patient, resilient Learning Support Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
Randstad Education is currently recruiting a dedicated SEMH LSA for a specialist educational setting in Chelmsford. This role involves providing 1:1 and small-group academic, emotional, and behavioural support to pupils who require tailored guidance to access the curriculum and thrive in their daily school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 and targeted small-group support to pupils with SEMH, complex emotional needs, and challenging behaviours.
- Implement de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed strategies to help students regulate their emotions and remain engaged in learning.
- Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapeutic support staff to meet objectives outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Build strong, trusting, and empathetic mentor relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH, social care needs, or complex behavioural difficulties (in schools, youth work, or residential care settings).
- Calm, resilient, and adaptable demeanor under challenging circumstances.
- Team Teach, MAPA/Safety-Pod, or relevant de-escalation training is highly advantageous (though training can be provided).
- Active Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or readiness to process one immediately).
