About the Role:
Randstad Education is urgently recruiting an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant Specialist for an outstanding specialist SEN school and college in the Chelmsford area. This is a full-time, 1:1 support role starting ASAP, with strong potential to transition into a permanent contract for the right candidate.
You will work 1:1 with a student who presents complex behavioural, social, and emotional needs alongside severe learning difficulties. This placement requires a resilient, calm, and proactive specialist capable of building trust, implementing individual behaviour plans, and de-escalating challenging situations effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with complex behaviour and specialist learning needs.
- De-escalate challenging behaviour using positive handling and positive reinforcement strategies.
- Work closely with the classroom teacher, SENCO, and therapy teams to deliver tailored educational activities.
- Promote independence, self-regulation, and emotional well-being within a safe classroom environment.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working 1:1 with children or young adults with complex behaviour and SEN needs.
- Training in de-escalation methods (e.g., Team-Teach, MAPA, or equivalent positive handling certification is highly desirable).
- Resilient, adaptable, and emotionally strong approach to behaviour management.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one immediately via Randstad).
- Full right to work in the UK.
