Skills Required
Relationship Building: The ability to connect with vulnerable young people, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
Resilience: A robust, patient, and non-judgmental nature when managing challenging behaviours or emotional distress.
De-escalation: Strong skills in conflict resolution, active listening, and keeping pupils calm and regulated throughout the school day.
Adaptability: A flexible mindset to support students across various activities, from classroom tasks to active learning sessions.
Job Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex SEMH and behavioural needs.
Assisting the class teacher in managing classroom dynamics and maintaining a positive, focused learning environment.
Helping students develop social skills, emotional regulation techniques, and self-esteem during lessons and break times.
Monitoring student engagement and progress, ensuring all safeguarding and pastoral protocols are strictly followed.
Essential Requirements
Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, complex behaviours, or within a care/youth work setting in the UK.
Right to Work: Full eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
DBS: An enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad.
Mindset: A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to find their spark and succeed.
