Hemel Hempstead
Are you a visionary educator dedicated to unlocking the potential of neurodiverse learners?
Can you cultivate a classroom environment that effortlessly balances adaptive academic learning with tailored sensory strategies and positive reinforcement?
If you are looking for a full-time, long-term role within a highly collaborative specialist provision, Randstad Education wants to partner with you.
We are seeking a creative and resilient Qualified SEN Teacher (QTS) for a full-time position at our partner SEN School in Hemel Hempstead. This modern, resource-rich setting supports secondary-aged pupils with complex learning profiles, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and associated communication needs. This role is perfect for a passionate teacher who looks beyond a student's diagnosis, designing innovative, personalised pathways that empower every child to thrive at their own pace.
Your Responsibilities
- Bespoke Learning Delivery: Plan, differentiate, and execute engaging lessons across a modified curriculum, aligning every activity with the specific targets outlined in each student's EHCP.
- Total Communication Integration: Embed functional communication aids-including PECS, Makaton, and visual schedules-into daily routines to support non-verbal and semi-verbal pupils.
- Classroom Team Leadership: Manage, inspire, and coordinate a team of dedicated specialist Teaching Assistants to maintain a safe, synchronised, and highly supportive learning environment.
- Positive Behaviour Support: Implement proactive de-escalation techniques and sensory breaks to support students navigating emotional dysregulation or sensory overload.
- Small-Step Progress Tracking: Utilise specialised SEN frameworks to track, record, and celebrate micro-milestones in student achievement and independence.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise closely with onsite speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and parents to provide a unified network of care.
What You'll Bring to the Team
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) / QTLS: Mandatory. A proven track record of leading classrooms within a special school, alternative provision, or specialised unit.
- SEND Expertise: Deep knowledge of adaptive pedagogy, sensory processing needs, and effective positive behaviour management strategies.
- Emotional Resilience: A calm, patient, and grounded demeanour, with the ability to remain a stabilising presence during behavioural or emotional crises.
- Strong Leadership Flair: The confidence to direct support staff effectively and cultivate a collaborative, high-performing classroom team.
- Compliance: An enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
