Role and Responsibilities
Stepping into this dynamic supply role, you will work alongside class teachers and multidisciplinary specialists to deliver tailored support across a range of key stages. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve:
- Facilitating one-to-one and small group learning activities mapped directly to each pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
- Employing alternative communication methods-such as Makaton, PECS, or visual schedules-to ensure every child has a voice.
- Guiding pupils through personalized sensory diet activities, movement opportunities, and calm-down routines to regulate engagement.
- Assisting with crucial daily routines, including physical mobility aid usage, personal hygiene care, and supported mealtime socialisation.
- Collaborating closely with class leads, therapists, and co-workers to maintain a safe, highly structured, and reassuring environment.
Skills Required
- A calm, patient, and solutions-focused approach with the flexibility to adapt to varying classroom dynamics.
- Background supporting individuals with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), or autism spectrum conditions (ASC).
- Hands-on experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or visual frameworks.
- Comfort and dignity in handling personal care needs, mobility assistance, and emotional regulation techniques.
Essential Requirements
- Prior hands-on experience supporting young people with SEN within UK educational or care settings.
- Valid, unrestricted right to work in the UK (please note: visa sponsorship cannot be provided).
- An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a commitment to process a new check with Randstad).
