Are you a patient, adaptable, and empathetic individual passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Whether you are seeking the complete freedom and flexibility of day-to-day cover, or looking for the rewarding continuity and deep connection of a long-term role, we have fantastic opportunities tailored to your availability.
We are currently partnering with specialist SEN schools, inclusion units, and alternative provisions near Shepreth and the surrounding South Cambridgeshire area. We are experiencing high demand for supportive Teaching Assistants to assist pupils across Key Stage 1 through Key Stage 4 with a variety of additional needs.
Whether you have previous SEN experience in schools, or come from a background in care, support work, early years, or youth work, we can help you find your ideal setup.
Choose Your Ideal Way of Working:
- Day-to-Day Cover: Maintain complete control over your schedule with total week-to-week flexibility. Pick the exact days you wish to work to fit around personal commitments or studies while gaining varied experience across local specialist provisions.
- Long-Term Opportunities: For those seeking routine and the opportunity to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and specialist teams, we offer fixed-term placements spanning a term or a full academic year. These roles allow you to closely support individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and become an integral part of a school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe/Moderate Learning Difficulties (SLD/MLD), Physical Disabilities, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Support class teachers in delivering tailored, sensory-friendly, and accessible learning activities aligned with individual EHCP goals.
- Assist pupils with sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour management using gentle, nurture-focused techniques.
- Utilise alternative communication tools (such as PECS, Makaton, or visual schedules) where appropriate to encourage pupil voice and interaction.
- Assist with personal care duties where applicable (including hygiene, changing, and mobility support), maintaining pupil dignity, comfort, and safety at all times.
- Promote an inclusive, safe, and positive environment where every child feels supported to learn and grow.
What We Look For:
- Previous experience supporting children or adults with Special Educational Needs, complex health requirements, or challenging behaviours (in schools, residential care, or healthcare settings).
- A patient, warm, and resilient personality with a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Willingness and confidence to support personal care needs where required by individual pupil plans.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build quick, positive rapport with staff and young learners.
- A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete one).
Benefits of Working With Us:
- Competitive daily rates of pay, processed weekly and reflective of your experience level.
- A dedicated local consultant with deep knowledge of the specialist education sector near Shepreth and South Cambridgeshire.
- Complete flexibility to set and update your availability on your own terms.
- Access to ongoing safeguarding and specialised SEN training opportunities.
- Direct pathways to securing long-term contracts or permanent roles in top local provisions.
