We are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a leading Alternative Provision in Plymouth. This role offers the opportunity to act as a mentor and advocate for young people facing complex barriers to their education, helping them re-engage and thrive in their personal and academic development.
Responsibilities- Provide high-quality, tailored educational and emotional support to students outside of mainstream classroom settings.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and social workers to maintain a holistic support network for each student.
- Develop and implement bespoke behavioural and learning strategies to facilitate successful transitions back into the classroom.
- Build trusting, professional relationships with students to foster confidence, self-esteem, and emotional resilience.
- Driving License: A full, valid UK driving license is mandatory for this role to assist with community access and student transport.
- Experience: Previous experience working with young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or behavioural challenges is highly desirable.
- Core Skills: Possession of high emotional intelligence, patience, and a non-judgemental approach to behaviour management.
- Work-Life Balance: Consistent, professional hours (Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 15:30, term time only).
