Are you a passionate educator dedicated to unlocking the potential of students with complex needs? We are seeking an inspiring and organised SENCo to join our leadership team at a highly-regarded, IQM-awarded specialist school.
The Environment
Our school provides a highly personalised learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, MLD, SLD, Autism, and ADHD. We pride ourselves on our child-centred curriculum, supported by an on-site therapeutic team and exceptional facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool and extensive outdoor learning spaces.
The Role
Working closely with the Head of School, you will take a central role in managing and developing inclusive learning, curriculum, and assessment. Your focus will be on raising pupil achievement and overseeing the day-to-day operation of SEND policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Support school management, including recruitment, training, and line management of support staff.
CPD & Training: Identify and manage high-quality training opportunities for classroom-based staff.
Data & Assessment: Lead target-setting processes and use assessment data to track progress and secure high achievement across all key stages.
Curriculum Development: Organise and implement a diverse, inclusive curriculum and assessment framework.
Compliance & Reporting: Collate evidence for school self-evaluation and report to governance on school improvement plans.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Proven track record of creative teaching within a special needs environment.
Experience in leadership (phase or inclusion) with a focus on raising standards.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and work collaboratively.
Desirable:
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo/NPQ-SENCo) or a willingness to achieve this within 2 years.
Experience with ASD intervention strategies (e.g., TEACCH).
Evidence of delivering inspirational professional development or mentoring.
