We're on the hunt for a Senior Backend Engineer for an urgent, 6-month contract to help build a genuinely safe, privacy-first digital ecosystem for kids and families. This is a fully remote position within the UK, and we're looking for someone ready to hit the ground running ASAP.

What you'll be doing day-to-day:
Protecting younger audiences: You'll architect and scale the backend systems that enforce critical safety, privacy, and parental control guardrails globally.
Collaborating across the board: You'll team up with mobile, web, and product engineers to design modular, reliable, and easily auditable interfaces.
Keeping quality high: You'll champion engineering best practices and ensure operational excellence using meaningful metrics like SLIs and SLOs.
What we're looking for:
The Essentials: You are a core Java expert (8+) with proven production experience in GCP. Your system design, data structures, and algorithm fundamentals are incredibly sharp, and you're comfortable diving into SQL for ad-hoc investigations.
The Nice-to-Haves: If you have a background in data engineering (think Scala, Beam, or Scio), know your way around Protocol Buffers, or love performance tuning under heavy load, you'll stand out from the crowd.
Above all, we want someone pragmatic, collaborative, and genuinely excited about shipping high-quality code that protects users.
