Are you an experienced Senior Social Worker dedicated to achieving permanence, stability, and positive long-term outcomes for looked-after children?
Leeds City Council is recruiting a skilled Senior Social Worker to join their well-established Child Looked After (CLA) Team. Offering £30.74 per hour, this role is ideal for a passionate practitioner with expertise in statutory care planning, court proceedings, and child-centred casework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Permanency & Care Planning: Manage a complex caseload of children looked after, driving robust permanency plans, kinship arrangements, or adoption pathways.
- Statutory Looked After Reviews: Prepare high-quality statutory report work, hold core groups, and represent the child's wishes in Looked After Children (LAC) reviews chaired by the IRO.
- Court Frameworks & Care Orders: Manage court proceedings, write detailed section 37/care reports, and liaise with legal teams and guardians.
- Mentoring & Practice Leadership: Support and mentor junior social workers, students, and NQSWs within the team, demonstrating high standards of child-centred practice.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications & SWE: Recognised Social Work qualification with active Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Senior CLA Experience: Proven post-qualifying experience within statutory Children's Social Care, specifically within Child Looked After, Permanency, or Long-Term Safeguarding teams.
- Court Competency: Strong working knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, and Public Law Outline (PLO) court processes.
- Mobility: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for community visits and placement reviews across Leeds and surrounding areas.
