Project Overview
We are looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major highway upgrade on the A47 near Norwich. This role sits between the site engineering team and the Project Manager, taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of specific main works sections.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in National Highways schemes, managing heavy earthworks, drainage, structures, or pavement packages. You will drive production on-site while ensuring absolute compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Section Management: Oversee the execution of assigned highway packages, managing site engineers and subcontractors to deliver to programme.
Short-Term Planning: Develop 2-4 week look-ahead programmes, coordinating plant, labor, and material requirements.
Health & Safety: Write, review, and implement RAMS. Ensure all works comply with Chapter 8 traffic management and strict site safety rules.
Quality & Engineering: Review and sign off on ITPs, ensure quality records are accurately maintained, and manage technical queries (RFIs).
Commercial Support: Track daily costs, measure outputs against the budget, and record any variations or delays.
Requirements
Highway Experience: Proven track record working as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer on major highways infrastructure projects (National Highways experience preferred).
Technical Background: Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering.
Certifications: SMSTS, CSCS Black or Gold Card, and First Aid.
Skills: Strong communication, programming capability (MS Project or Primavera), and the ability to manage multi-disciplinary site teams.
Contract Details
Status: PAYE only.
Location: On-site near Norwich (A47).
Stability: Secure 2-year duration.
