Are you an accomplished fostering practitioner with a sharp eye for assessment and the clinical authority to present evidence to the courts?
Following their recent 'Outstanding' Ofsted inspection grading, Manchester City Council is seeking an experienced, highly efficient Supervising Social Worker to join their dedicated Kinship Fostering Team. This specialist service is focused on delivering rigorous, high-quality assessments of connected persons, ensuring that children who cannot live with their birth parents are safely placed within their wider family networks.
Core Responsibilities
Operating within a high-performing, fast-paced fostering environment, your daily duties will include:
Court-Directed Assessments: Planning, executing, and writing comprehensive, analytical Kinship and Connected Persons assessments within strict, legally mandated court timescales.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all assessment work strictly adheres to national Fostering Services Regulations, National Minimum Standards, and corporate safeguarding policies.
Risk & Safeguarding: Identifying, evaluating, and managing potential risks within the wider family network, applying strong child protection knowledge to protect vulnerable children.
Duty Rota Participation: Undertaking general duty responsibilities as required by the service, which includes a flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when on the active rota.
Mandatory Candidate Criteria
Professional Registration: Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a valid, active Social Work England registration.
Specialist Assessment Skills: Proven, substantive experience in completing complex, court-ready Kinship/Viability/Form F assessments.
Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing demands and meet strict legal and internal deadlines.
Work Structure: Commitment to a mainly office-based working structure within Manchester, alongside the flexibility required for duty cover.
