The Opportunity
We are partnering with a wonderful multi-academy trust to find a dedicated and proactive Assistant Site Supervisor. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on professional looking to make a meaningful impact within an educational community. In this role, you will play an essential part in ensuring the campus is safe, clean, and welcoming for pupils, staff, and visitors alike. If you take pride in your environment and enjoy a varied workload where no two days are the same, this fulfilling position offers excellent scope for personal and professional development.
About the Setting
Our partner trust operates high-quality learning environments dedicated to supporting children and young people. This specific role is based primarily at their vibrant campus in Bedale, with regular travel required to a secondary site in Ripon. The main site features excellent specialised facilities, including an on-site swimming pool and its own fleet of academy vehicles, providing a modern and dynamic workplace for any facilities professional.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As directed by the Site Manager, your duties will span security, maintenance, and general operations:
- Security: Taking responsibility for opening and locking gates/doors, patrolling premises, activating security systems, and acting as a primary key holder on a rota basis.
- Heating & Utilities: Monitoring lighting and heating systems, taking weekly meter readings, and reporting any faults promptly.
- Maintenance & Grounds: Performing general building repairs, minor maintenance, and grounds care such as weeding, litter picking, snow clearing, and gritting.
- Cleaning & Housekeeping: Handling daily cleaning duties in designated areas, managing emergency touch-ups, and collaborating on deep-cleaning projects during school holidays.
- Specialist Facilities: Operating the swimming pool plant, including chemical dosing to maintain correct pH and chlorine levels.
- Transport Operations: Conducting weekly safety checks on academy vehicles and assisting with transport for servicing.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualifications: GCSE Grade A*-C or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Experience: Proven experience in a similar caretaking, site maintenance, or facilities role, ideally within an educational setting.
- Skills & Knowledge: A sound knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, paired with practical competence in basic building repairs and grounds maintenance.
- Characteristics: A self-motivated individual with strong organisation and people skills who can work effectively on their own initiative.
- Transport/Commute: The ability to travel flexibly between the Bedale and Ripon sites, sometimes at short notice.
Safeguarding & Compliance
Because this role involves working in an environment with children and young people, the successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. We require a complete employment history with all CV gaps accounted for, as well as proof of your right to work in the UK. Our partner trust is an equal opportunities employer committed to safer recruitment practices.
