We are recruiting a dedicated Qualified Primary Teacher (QTS) specialising in Key Stage 1 for a long-term contract starting in September 2026 at a welcoming primary school in Luton. Teaching across Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms, this role is ideal for an educator who excels at delivering foundational curriculum content, creating an encouraging classroom environment, and preparing pupils for early literacy and numeracy milestones.
Core Responsibilities
- KS1 Curriculum Delivery: Plan, adapt, and teach engaging, high-impact lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum, tailoring tasks to diverse learning speeds.
- Phonics & Early Literacy: Utilise modern systematic synthetic phonics schemes (such as Read Write Inc. or Little Wandle) to drive early reading and writing skills, preparing Year 1 pupils for the Phonics Screening Check.
- Classroom Team Guidance: Inspire, manage, and collaborate with room Teaching Assistants to run targeted intervention groups and preserve a safe, structured space.
- Differentiated Instruction: Design adaptive learning pathways that support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND) or EAL while stretching higher-attaining learners.
- Progress Tracking: Conduct regular formative assessments to evaluate pupil growth, track foundational milestones, and inform future planning.
- Parental Partnerships: Build warm, constructive relationships with parents and carers to support a smooth home-school transition for young learners.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. Open to both experienced KS1 teachers and outstanding Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with UK primary experience.
- KS1 Pedagogical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the KS1 framework, early childhood development, systematic phonics teaching, and early math concepts.
- Nurturing Demeanour: A patient, encouraging, and vibrant approach capable of creating a positive, well-managed classroom culture.
- Team-Oriented Mindset: A strong commitment to collaborating with phase leads and support staff to prioritise pupil wellbeing and progress.
- Vetting Checks: Holds an Enhanced Child DBS registered on the Update Service (or readiness to complete a new application via Randstad).
