Summary of Job
Role: Residential Deputy Children's Home Manager
Location: Wallasey (CH44)
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent (160 hours per month plus sleep-ins)
Salary Structure (inclusive of planned sleep-ins):
Level 3 Qualified: £38,400 per annum (£16.25 per hour)
Level 5 Qualified: £41,337.60 per annum (£17.78 per hour)
Sleep-In Allowance: £60 per sleep-in (based on an average of 10 sleep-ins per month)
Career Development: Clear, structured pathways and full support to achieve the NVQ/Diploma Level 5 qualification.
Duties & Responsibilities
Deputising for the Home Manager and managing the day-to-day operations of the residential home in their absence.
Leading, mentoring, and supporting the staff team, which includes conducting professional supervisions and managing shift rotas.
Overseeing team building, organising induction training, and fostering a supportive working environment.
Building strong, therapeutic relationships with resident young people and their families to ensure their emotional, physical, and educational needs are met.
Advocating for the young people in care, keeping their views and best interests at the heart of all decision-making.
Maintaining high-quality and precise record-keeping, ensuring the home is always prepared for statutory and Personal Education Plan (PEP) reviews.
Ensuring full compliance with the Social Care Common Inspection Framework, Quality Standards, and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
Participating in a flexible shift pattern, including undertaking on-call duties and up to 16 hours of business-critical overtime per month when required.
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Residential Children's Home, with at least 1 of those years spent in a leadership capacity (such as a Team Leader or Senior Support Worker).
Qualifications: A completed NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People (holding or working towards a Level 5 is highly desirable).
Knowledge: A robust understanding of SCCIF, Quality Standards, and Children's Homes Regulations.
Skills: Excellent leadership abilities, proven experience in completing staff supervisions, and strong administrative skills.
Travel: A full UK driving licence with access to a personal vehicle and business insurance.
