About the Role
Are you an experienced and resilient Social Worker looking for a challenging yet highly rewarding role? Knowsley Council is currently seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join their fast-paced Child Protection Team.
In this critical role, you will be on the front line of safeguarding children, working diligently to identify risks, implement protective strategies, and keep families together wherever safe to do so. Key Responsibilities
- Safeguarding & Assessment: Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and Section 47 enquiries to ensure the immediate and ongoing safety of children.
- Child Protection Plans: Formulate, implement, and regularly review robust Child Protection and Child in Need plans.
- Multi-Agency Working: Chair and participate in Core Group meetings and Case Conferences, collaborating closely with police, health professionals, and schools.
- Direct Work: Engage meaningfully with children and families to ensure the child's voice is heard and central to all interventions.
- Court Proceedings: Prepare high-quality, analytical reports for court and represent the local authority in public law proceedings when necessary.
Requirements
- Qualifications: A recognized Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW).
- Registration: Active and current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Experience: Substantial post-qualifying experience in a statutory Child Protection, Safeguarding, or Assessment team.
- Skills: Strong analytical report writing, crisis intervention skills, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Practicalities: Enhanced DBS clearance and a full UK driving license with access to a vehicle (highly desirable for this role).
