Stepping onto an overnight shift in a residential children home requires a unique blend of quiet composure and proactive efficiency. For a child navigating complex neurodevelopmental needs or emotional trauma, knowing a dedicated adult is awake and guarding their wellbeing provides immense peace of mind.
We are actively recruiting dedicated waking night support staff across Tonypandy to partner with major local care providers. Your role will combine trauma informed overnight care with practical household preparation, creating a secure environment so the young people wake up refreshed and supported.
This position is ideally suited to candidates with transferable experience as a Support Worker, Care Assistant, Night Care Worker, Youth Worker, Residential Childcare Worker, Education Support Worker, or Crisis Worker.
How you will make a difference
- Ensure Overnight Security: Uphold robust safeguarding measures while carrying out systematic house checks throughout the shift
- Prepare Daily Operations: Carry out routine night set tasks, light cleaning, and prep the home for the next day effectively
- Produce High Quality Reports: Complete required statutory paperwork, daily communication logs, and handovers with precision
What you will bring
- Essential Care Experience: Minimum 6 months of paid experience inside a UK residential care or youth support service
- Mindset: High personal integrity, emotional resilience, and a calm approach during calm or challenging night hours
- Mobility: A valid UK driving licence and independent vehicle access is preferred for convenient travel across RCT Share The Word And Claim Vouchers
