Oldham Council is recruiting an experienced Team Manager to lead their frontline Children's Social Care teams. Offering £46.00 per hour, this role provides an exceptional opportunity to lead a dedicated team across statutory functions, driving child-centred decision-making, restorative practice, and positive family outcomes.
About the Role & Service Area:
You will provide leadership, reflective supervision, and management oversight across a multidisciplinary team of Social Workers, Advanced Practitioners, and Support Staff. Oldham Council operates a restorative, relationship-based practice model with a strong commitment to manageable caseloads, quality assurance, and robust management oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Provide management oversight, reflective supervision, and leadership across Duty & Assessment, CIN, CP, Court Work, PLO, and Looked After Children (CLA).
- Risk Management & Decisions: Lead on complex safeguarding decisions, Section 47 enquiries, strategy discussions, and departmental panels.
- Practice Quality & QA: Drive high-quality assessments and care plans, conduct audits, monitor regulatory compliance, and lead service improvement.
- Staff Development: Empower and develop staff through regular reflective supervision, performance management, and coaching.
- Multi-Agency Leadership: Foster excellent partnership working across health, education, police, and partner networks.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualifications & SWE: Recognised Social Work qualification and active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Leadership Experience: Significant experience managing or supervising staff within statutory Children's Social Care.
- Statutory Expertise: Extensive experience managing complex Child Protection, Court Work (PLO), and Children Looked After processes.
- Practice Ethos: A strong commitment to restorative, strengths-focused, and relationship-based social work.
