Oldham Council is recruiting experienced Social Workers to join their frontline Children's Social Care teams. About the Role & Service Area:
You will work across a broad range of statutory safeguarding and family support functions, ensuring children receive the right intervention at the right time. Oldham Council operates a supportive, restorative practice model focused on relationship-based and strengths-focused interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Statutory Interventions: Lead on complex safeguarding decisions across Duty & Assessment, Child in Need (CIN), and Child Protection (CP) planning and reviews.
- Child Protection & Section 47: Conduct Section 47 enquiries, convene strategy discussions, and manage complex child protection plans.
- Court Work & Care Proceedings: Drive Public Law Outline (PLO) processes, manage pre-proceedings, write court reports, and represent the authority in care proceedings.
- Children Looked After (CLA): Coordinate care planning, permanency planning, and statutory reviews to ensure long-term stability and safety.
- Multi-Agency Practice: Build robust working relationships across health, education, police, and partner agencies to promote holistic safeguarding.
What We Are Looking For:
- Qualification & Registration: Recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW) and active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience within statutory Children's Social Care (specifically complex CP, CLA, and Court Work).
- Knowledge: Extensive working knowledge of Children's legislation, statutory safeguarding guidance, and court frameworks.
- Practice Ethos: A clear commitment to restorative, relationship-based, and strengths-focused social work.
