Tameside Council is seeking a passionate, driven Interim Fostering Team Manager to lead their Fostering Support, Supervision, and Assessments Service. Offering a competitive pay rate of £46.00 per hour, this role requires a strategic yet operationally focused manager to lead Supervising Social Workers and deliver outstanding outcomes for foster carers and children.
About the Role & Service Area:
You will lead and inspire a dedicated team of Supervising Social Workers, balancing day-to-day operational oversight with strategic leadership. Your key focus will be driving service improvement, maintaining rigorous quality assurance, and ensuring foster carers receive high-quality support, supervision, and assessment to ensure placement stability and safety for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational & Strategic Leadership: Manage the Fostering Support, Supervision, and Assessments team, driving performance and strategic service development.
- Carer Support & Assessments: Oversee high-quality Form F assessments, foster carer supervisions, and robust support frameworks.
- Quality Assurance & Auditing: Lead QA activities, audit practice standards, and implement continuous service improvement plans.
- Workforce Development: Provide regular, reflective supervision, coaching, and professional development for Supervising Social Workers.
- Safeguarding & Care Planning: Maintain strict safeguarding oversight, care planning integrity, and multi-agency partnership working across health, education, and social care networks.
What We Are Looking For:
- Professional Registration: Active registration with Social Work England (SWE).
- Leadership Expertise: Proven track record of managing and leading teams within statutory Fostering or Children's Social Care services.
- Fostering Practice: Specialist confidence in fostering regulations, foster carer assessments (Form F), supervision frameworks, and panel procedures.
- QA & Performance: Strong capability in auditing, performance management, and driving service change.
