Location: South Tyneside
Team: Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
Pay Rate: £35.37 per hour
Contract: Full-time, Temporary / Contract
About the Role
Are you an experienced, decisive Social Worker looking for a fast-paced role without the burden of a long-term caseload?
South Tyneside Council is seeking a skilled and dedicated MASH Social Worker to join their dynamic Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. In this non-case holding role, your focus will be entirely on initial triage, risk assessment, and safeguarding at the front door. You will collaborate closely with partner agencies (including Police, Health, and Education) to ensure vulnerable children and families receive the right support at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
Triage & Assessment: Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding referrals, analyzing complex information quickly and accurately.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work alongside key partners to share information and build a holistic picture of risk.
Risk Management: Apply threshold criteria confidently to determine the most appropriate pathway for each child and family.
No Case Management: Focus purely on the initial decision-making stage-once the risk is assessed and the pathway is determined, the case is transitioned out of MASH.
What We Are Looking For
Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience within a MASH, Initial Assessment, or Frontline Children's Services team.
Decision-Making: The ability to work under pressure, make robust safeguarding decisions, and articulate risk clearly.
Qualifications: A degree in Social Work and a current registration with Social Work England.
Compliance: Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Why Apply?
Excellent Pay: A highly competitive hourly rate of £35.37.
Work-Life Balance: Enjoy the fast-paced nature of frontline safeguarding without the taking home of ongoing casework or court proceedings.
Supportive Environment: Join a collaborative, multi-agency team committed to best practices and high standards of child protection.
